NOTIFICATION TO SHUT OFF YOUR “LET RUN” Due to several factors the City of Escanaba Water Department has determined that the frost has receded, and any concern of water lines re-freezing has diminished. Please shut off all “Let-Run’s” as soon as possible. Any adjustments that are being made to your water bill will cease to exist at the end of the current billing cycle.

Escanaba to observe Arbor Day April 25, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. The City of Escanaba will celebrate National Arbor Day on Friday, April 25th at 9:00 am south of the gazebo in Ludington Park. Arbor Day is an acknowledgement of the importance of trees and plants in our daily lives. Ultimately, the goal is to raise awareness of the many benefits trees provide. For the fourteenth year, Escanaba has received the “Tree City USA” certification. City Engineer Bill Farrell said, “Requirements for this designation are: a community forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita: a Tree Board or Forestry Department to develop and administer a comprehensive community tree management program: a community tree ordinance: and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.” Also for the fourth year in a row, we would like to thank the American Transmission Company (ATC) for a donation to our annual Arbor Day Celebration. The Public Works Department will be planting these trees with the help of area Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. The public is encouraged to attend this commemorative tree planting ceremony.

PLEASE KEEP YOUR WATER RUNNING. DO NOT SHUT OFF THE “LET RUN”! This is a reminder for those who have already had frozen pipes. Do not shut off your “let run” if your service line had already frozen. It will likely re-freeze, if shut off. Even though the temperatures have risen doesn’t mean the frost is gone. Please allow more time for the spring weather to do its job. Please don’t shut off the “let run” until you are notified by the Water Department.
