When do winter parking restrictions take affect? What are the specific details?
Winter parking restrictions run from December 1st through April 1st. The restrictions are as follows: During the dates listed above vehicles are only allowed to park on West side of streets, North side of the Avenues. Between the hours of 2am through 7am vehicles may be parked for no longer than 1/2 hour on any street within the confines of the city. Tickets are $35.

I received a citation for violation of winter parking restrictions. Where do I pay the fine?
All parking citations (except handicap violations) may be paid at the utilities window in the City Hall/ Library complex located at 410 Ludington St, in Escanaba.

How do I go about picking up a copy of a police report? How much are they?
You can pick up a copy of a police report at the Escanaba Public Safety records window. Reports can be picked up between 8am and 4pm, Monday through Friday (excluding Holidays). Reports are normally $3.00. If these hours are not convenient, you may call ahead and make other arrangements. Please call (906) 786-5911 and ask for records.

What number do I dial if I have an emergency?
If you have an emergency the number to dial is 911. If there is not an emergency you can call (906) 786-5911.

What are the Michigan Safety Belt/Child Car Seat Laws?
Ages 0 - 3 - All passengers shall be properly secured in an approved Child Restraint System, in a rear seat if available.

Ages 4 - 7 and under 4'9" tall - All passengers shall be properly secured in an approved Child Restraint System.

Ages 4-7 and over 4'9" tall - All passengers shall wear a properly adjusted and fastened safety belt.

Ages 8-15 - All passengers shall wear a properly adjusted and fastened safety belt.

Ages 16 and older - Driver and front seat passengers shall wear a properly adjusted and fastened safety belt.

Properly secured and properly adjusted and fastened safety belt mean as specified by the vehicle or child restraint/booster seat manufacturer. Shoulder belts, if available, are required to be used. Refer to the owner's manual for specific requirements.

Are you open on weekends and holidays?
Escanaba Public Safety is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

What time does Ludington Park close?
Ludington Park closes at 11:00 P.M.

Our group, or organization, would like to set up a tour of your department. How would we go about doing that?
You can call (906) 786-5911, or stop by the department and a dispatcher will gather your information.

What type of information will the dispatcher need to schedule a tour?
1. Date and time of tour.

2. A contact person who can be reached in the unlikely event that a tour must be rescheduled or cancelled due to lack of availability of an officer.

3. The approximate number of people in the tour group and their average age.

NOTE: It is recommended that you have one adult chaperone for every five children under the age of eight. It is also recommended that you call the morning of your tour to confirm. Also specify, at the time you schedule your tour, if you would like to include the "Delta County Smokehouse" as part of your Public Safety adventure.

Call (906) 786-5911. Escanaba Public Safety is the answering point for most city departments after hours.

Why do they ask so many questions when I call for police, fire or medical assistance?
Our telecommunication operators are trained to get as much information as possible to determine the nature and seriousness of the call. Be assured, under most circumstances the call is being, or has been dispatched, as the telecommunicator is obtaining this additional information.
